Printable hat measuring tape
No tape measure at home? Print this paper one. The strips are drawn at true physical size in millimetres —as long as your printer runs at 100% scale, the numbers are exact— and a calibration box lets you check that before trusting the result.
Step 1 — check the calibration
Print this page at 100% / "Actual size" (turn off "fit to page" or "scale to paper"). Then compare with a real bank card: the dashed outline below is exactly85.60 × 53.98 mm, the ISO card size. If it matches, the printed tape is true to size. If it does not, your printer is scaling — turn the fit-to-page option off and print again.
Step 2 — choose your paper and print
The tape comes on five strips. Each strip's shaded "ALIGN" tab at the right repeats the first fifteen millimetres of the next strip, so assembled strips either match visibly or are off — the tape checks itself.
Both paper sizes render on screen. Print the one you selected; the hidden variant will not print.
The measuring tape
Assembling and using the tape
- 01Cut the strips along their outlines.
- 02Join them. Lay each strip's shaded ALIGN tab underneath the next strip so the millimetre lines line up — the repeated numbers make it obvious when it is right. Fix with glue or a short piece of adhesive tape.
- 03Measure your head with the joined tape: above the ears, level, snug but not tight, as in themeasuring guide.
- 04Type the number in thehat size converter and read your size in every system.
Tip: print on slightly heavier paper if you have it — the tape stays flat and easier to hold level.
